Prisoner Claims He is Tupac Reincarnated and Entitled to His Estate
A Colorado inmate filed a lawsuit in New York seeking to obtain Tupac Shakur’s estate, claiming he is the late rapper reincarnated.
According to court documents, Tarnell Leon Jones admitted he doesn’t physically resemble Shakur but believed he “was shot by police officers in New York City, Los Angeles and Atlanta” during the early 1990s and subsequently came back to life as the musician.
Jones’s lawsuit requested all documents concerning the rapper’s identity, along with damages for incidents from that era. He also claimed that searching his full legal name on Google somehow converts to the deceased artist’s name.
The Claims
While Jones could not provide personal details such as Shakur’s social security number, he did supply publicly available information including the rapper’s birthday and the date of the shooting at Quad Recording Studios in New York. He even volunteered to undergo medical testing, hypothesizing that “two blood types and hearts would be discovered” to support his claims.
Jones filed the lawsuit from San Carlos Correctional Facility. He further alleged that a backpack containing over $1 million was stolen from him, though he could not specify who took it or where this event occurred.
The Court’s Decision
United States District Judge Hector Gonzalez dismissed the case, ruling that “Plaintiff’s complaint is nonsensical and does not present any cognizable federal claims” within any relevant statute of limitations. Jones was prohibited from refiling.
This represents his third dismissed lawsuit on similar grounds. Over the past decade, Jones has filed 13 lawsuits in Colorado, where he remains incarcerated.
